Best&Lloyd began by making brass components in 1840. By 1900 it had become the most prestigious supplier of chandeliers to public buildings in Europe and America. In 1930 it launched the Bestlite, still in production today, designed by Robert Dudley Best, England's contribution to the Bauhaus movement. In 1966 the company received a Design Centre Award for the Cantilever desk light designed by Gerald Abramovitz. This was a remarkable forward looking minimalistic aesthetic even for the 60's. In 2003, Best&Lloyd merged with Adrien Bonaventure, previously exclusive to Pierre Frey UK. It has since won three BIDA Outstanding Product awards. |
